The UK Warehousing Association welcomes the opportunity to work with the new Government to tackle key issues that are important to our sector, including decarbonising the electricity network, reforming the planning system, modernising apprenticeships and promoting innovation in warehousing.
Warehousing and logistics underpins the growth agenda of the new Government, but responsibility for delivering the eight most critical policy reforms we need – as set out in UKWA’s Election Manifesto – is spread across eight separate government departments.
We can only thrive under a more joined up Government, so alongside peer trade organisations UKWA is calling for the new Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer to appoint a dedicated cross-departmental Logistics Minister who will champion the needs of our sector.
Our manifesto also calls for overdue reform to business rates and urgent improvements to the planning system, both of which have been pledged by the new Government.
As a leading voice for rooftop solar, we are pleased to support the Government’s commitment to clean power and major investment in upgrading the UK electricity grid, we will continue to highlight the untapped potential of solar power on warehouse rooftops as a vital part of achieving its ambitious net zero targets.
